 Industrial Tech - Stage 6

Industrial Technology Timber is offered as a stage 6 course to all students of both genders. It is a practical based subject which is centred on the timber industry and associated products. It is suited to those students who are interested in a trade based career in the timber related industries or to those students who have a genuine interest in gaining practical skills in working with timber. It is a category B subject and does contribute to a student's UAI.
Students undertaking this course will learn a broad range of skills and knowledge relating to the timber industry by:
- developing knowledge and understanding of safe and co-operative work practices
- gaining competence in designing, managing and communicating within the timber industry
- developing knowledge and skills in producing quality products.

A coffee table designed and constructed by a Year 12 student as their major project in 2006
In Year 12 students are required to design and manufacture a Major Project to demonstrate their proficiency of skills in the Timber industry. The Major Project and its accompanying portfolio are worth 60% of the student's HSC mark. This component of the course is marked by external markers. Work towards the Major Project begins at the commencement of the HSC course.
The remaining 40% of assessment is based on an external HSC examination.
