 Merit System

Student achievement and success at Warrawong High School is acknowledged through teacher praise and commendation, through school ceremonial life, as well as through a system of awards and privileges – the Merit System.
The Merit System aims to recognize and reward student achievement and effort,to promote student self esteem and confidence and to enable all students to be recognized and rewarded rather than just the outstanding achievers.
Certificates are presented for:
- Excellence in classwork,
- tests and assignments.
- Significant improvement in attitude,
- behaviour and performance.
- Involvement in school activities – eg literacy, DEAR, peer support, fund raising Participation in sports carnivals, school, zone and regional sporting teams.
- Creative contribution and performance in art, technology, band, dance, drama debating etc.
- Involvement in school competitions – eg chess, maths, science.
- Displaying school leadership – eg S.R.C., assemblies.
- Assisting staff or other students. Showing initiative or sacrifice in any school situation.
