School Reports and Student Progress

Students receive an academic report each semester and parent teacher interviews are held at the end of Term 2. Parents should read reports carefully. Teachers spend considerable time writing reports and choosing comments which indicate how a student is performing. It is essential that parents review reports with their children, praise them where they have performed well and discuss areas where teachers are indicating that an improvement is needed.

If, at any time, teachers are concerned about a student's progress, they will contact parents or notify the Year Adviser who may organise a progress report and arrange a parent interview.

Yr10/11/12 Assessment

Yr10/11/12 students are bound by Board of Studies rules for the award of a School Certificate or HSC. Students must attend regularly and perform to the required standard in class and in tests and assignments. Students who miss a major exam or assessment task must immediately consult with their class teacher and provide a medical certificate or similar. Each year, all Yr10/11/12 students are given a detailed outline of all assessment rules and procedures.

Academic Monitoring for Yr9/10/11/12 Students

Students in Yr10/11/12 are eligible for an external credential. As they are also of post-compulsory school age, different rules and expectations apply with regard to their performance when compared to students in Yr7/8/9. For Yr10/11/12, teachers monitor student progress every 5 weeks to ensure students are maximising their academic potential. Teachers assign coded grades which are collated and reviewed.

Students who are performing well are rewarded while those not making enough effort are monitored more closely and face a range of consequences. These may include student and parent interviews, post compulsory warnings, daily academic monitoring and formal reviews. Students who do not make a reasonable effort may be expelled from school under post compulsory rules for the School Certificate or HSC.
