Student Welfare and Discipline Policy
Student welfare encompasses everything that the school community does to meet the personal and social needs of students and enhance their well being. A caring school is fundamental to student welfare because increasingly, schools are seen by the wider community as not only an educational institution, but also a socialising agency which is expected to help address many of society’s issues and problems.
At Warrawong, we create a safe, happy school where each student feels comfortable, confident and valued. We maintain a calm and orderly environment which is characterised by maturity, courtesy and co-operation in dealings between people. We expect students to comply with teacher instruction, uphold the behaviour and dress codes and make use of school systems to resolve conflicts and problems.
The result is a positive school environment in which individual and group values are respected Parents who are concerned about any issue relating to the performance, attitude or behaviour of their child should contact the school immediately to help minimise any problems. All of our staff are trained to provide a wide range of advice, support and help. Specific welfare support is available through the Year Advisers, the Head Teacher Welfare, school counsellors, support teacher learning assistance and all executive staff. A translation of this policy is available on request.
